 May 5 through 26, 2000--Samson Mnisi Showcase
An exhibition of Samson Mnisi's work at the Atmosphere Gallery (81 Greene St.) in SoHo, NY was held as a public event and fundraiser for CrossPathCulture. The event introduced the New York public to Mnisi's work, which is renowned in his native South Africa for their examination of ritual culture and profound individuality. The works shown, produced at artist John Hersey's Hirondelle Studio in Millbrook, N.Y., represent the landscape of the Hudson River Valley as seen by the eyes of an African visitor. A 25% tax deductable ammount from each sale was reserved for the future creation of a print-making studio in Johannesburg, South Africa.
