The artist Samaj, now living in New York, developed his mode of abstract expressionism in Seattle. Focusing on the notion of art as a gradual revelation achieved through the actual process of creation, Samaj explores personal interpretations of "time past or time future--experiences, I feel, that are relevant to the moment now." Samaj's work has been exhibited in many Seattle galleries and museums, as well as the Galerie Zongbieri in Basel, Switzerland, and the Chapelle de la Sorbonne, Paris. In 1997 he was the Artist in Residence at the Tacoma Art Museum.
